Disclaimer — I do not own Slay the Spire, and I do these for fun.
Important note — When I first started STS fan art, only STS 1 was out, and the skin color the Silent appeared lighter. When I chose her colors, I pulled directly from her character image in the game, where you select Characters. When STS 2 came out, and new characters were introduced, Silent's skin color went darker. I believe she was always intended to be a character with darker skin, but the swatch itself was just darker in the second game. In these comics, her skin matched my swatch from the first game. And when I shared these comics on the STS fan discord, while a lot of people seemed to enjoy the silly story, I also got a lot of heat which nearly put me off making this comic altogether. I don't think I did anything wrong by matching STS 1 colors, and it was an honest, unintentional mistake. But this is a touchy subject, and while I want to respect the representation of people of color, I also don't appreciate the spirit of those who attacked my work that was just meant to be fun, and did not give me the benefit of the doubt, but resorted to trolling, attacking, and shame.
All that to say, I have, in good faith, darkened her skin color to match STS2, and from this chapter on, I will stick to this skin color.
I am doing this comic for fun, and because my kids beg me, every day, and it's fun, when my health flares badly, to have something to do while I am stuck in bed.
